Huge Day of Firsts

This morning we went to church again. Our mission today was to take Lily to the nursery, where we haven't had much luck in the past, to get her used to being away from us for a bit. Lately we have been talking a lot about school and now Lily asscociates church with school which is great and having her comfortable there is the main goal.
After we found a place to sit, we take up an entire pew now, Lily and I headed to the nursery. I was pleasantly surprised to find three other kids around Lily's age and two high schoolers watching them. Perfect. After about five minutes of Lily rubbing her eys red from being shy, she began wondering around the room. Ten minutes after she had both high school girls and the little boy at a table playing tea party. I left to go check on Mike and Emma and went back 10 minutes later. Without Lily seeing me the girls told me she was fine, back to mass I went. Right before communion I went to get her so she could sit with us, she had been in there for long enough (according to Mike and I) for the first day. As Lily and I walked in, she started screaming NO...PLAY...SCHOOL...so back to the nursery with Mike this time. We finally picked our big girl up at the end of church. The entire way home she talked about playing at school. If there was any doubt in our minds that Lily wasn't ready to go to school, this morning definitely helped change our minds.
September here we come!

Today was also the first of many Mommy and Lily afternoons. Mike and I have talked about each of us having quality time with each of our girls alone. So what did Lily and I decide to do? Go to the mall of course!
We had our FIRST shoe shopping trip!
Our first stop, Auntie Ann's Pretzels. We sat and people watched in front of Macys and ate pretzels and drank lemonade. So wonderful!
Next stop, Old Navy and did some browsing.
Lastly, Stride Rite during a wonderful sale to get her foot measured and get some much needed new shoes. And I'm glad we did, she went from 7.5 to an 8.5!!
So, as a true shopper of shoes she got 4 pairs!
Two lace up pairs of sneakers, one washable :) Lily lived in those last summer, white sandals and her very first pair of bright pink Crocs!

She is now set for the entire summer and hopefully the beginning of school. We can hope.

Lily, I had an absolutely wonderful time with you today. You always remind me how blessed I am to have you as my daughter and I look forward to many more days like this with you.
xxxooo Mommy
