Progress?!?

This morning I had my 38 week appointment. I was extremely happy that this appointment was already scheduled since I was awakened at 3am again (first time was Sat night but they went away) by contractions that continued throughout the morning.

Lily and I met Mike at the Dr and we "patiently" waited until we were called back. When the Dr came in we listened to Emma, wonderful. She measured my stomach, wonderful. Then, she checked me. 50% effaced and 1 cm dilated! Really, progress?!?

With Lily, I didn't progress at all by myself and she came by induction at almost 41 weeks. So, this progress is REAL progress for me and made me feel completely out of control. But because this was at 38 weeks they went ahead and scheduled my induction time for the 12th at 830am.

To be continued...

(and no Baby Emma has not arrived yet)

Are You Kidding Me??

It's sad but true, I guess I do waddle just a bit :)

Party Prep

Tomorrow we are having Lily's 2nd Birthday Party!

As always, we are up trying to get the finishing touches done while she is asleep. Our jobs, me the cake and Mike odds and ends.
Not pretty at any stage. But, at least I only have to impress a 2 yr old!
From now on, I must only consider buying cakes. Really, you shouldn't watch all of those cake shows on TLC and believe you could do the same thing. Just isn't true.
Creating Oscar's Trash Can
Covering our trash can in foil, a lot easier than it seems.

Buckles

For a few weeks Lily has been able to half way buckle herself into her booster seat. We're working on the other one but as you can see in the video, she asks for help.
Very proud nonetheless.

Baby Party

The Mom's Group organized a Baby Party and we had it this morning. The party was for Grady, Carol Anne's grandson who arrived in November, Emma and Baby Leah due in early May.
They had games, food and presents! Thank you to Elizabeth and Erin for organizing and all of the yummy food!! Can you believe that the baby on the cupcake is edible. Yeah, no one ate one but brought one home to take a picture!
E, thank you so much for everything we really missed you!!

Binky No More

So, I'm not sure how this happened. Lily has not had the binky during the day in quite some time and we have been building it up for her to give it to Emma. Suddenly, we thought this could be the wrong thing to do. A couple of things could happen. One, no problems at all and it would go relatively smoothly. Two, Emma has it while we're at a store and Lily realizes it's hers so she takes it out of Emma's mouth to transfer to her own. This could happen anywhere. Three, Lily begins to dislike Emma and "forgets" that she actually gave her binkys away.

All scenarios except for the first one are not at all ideal. And, not wanting a toddler and an infant with binkys led to the take away of Lily's. Let me just say, we just did it. We went cold turkey and Mike and I didn't second guess our decision. Well, Mike didn't anyway.

We did this on one of Mike's long weekends because I wasn't going to do this alone. Here's how it all went down:

1st Night: Thursday, went extremely well. Only asked for it once, didn't fuss when put in her crib and only one whining spell through the night that she worked out on her own.

1st Nap: Friday, not so great. Not so great at all. Asked for it repeatedly, cried even while on my lap. Put her down in crib to work out and screamed the entire time. Screamed a let me get all sweaty, hair sticking to my face kinda scream. I heard on the monitor, Maammmaaaa over and over. I gave in. She got her binky and slept for an hour and a half.

2nd Night: Friday, perfect. Mike put her down and she didn't even ask for it!

2nd Nap: Saturday, perfect. Mike did nap as well.

3rd Night: Saturday, perfect. Didn't ask for it, cry or get up in the middle of the night.

All day Sunday and Monday absolutely perfect! No crying, NO NOTHING!!!

Now we get to Tuesday nap time...my turn.

HORRIBLE! Got her to sleep, but only for half an hour.

As of now, Sunday night while I'm typing this I have yet to conquer nap time. At a time in which I desperately need her to take naps she isn't so we have resorted to our nap/quiet time in Mommy's bed which has actually worked and I get a nap too.

The drama continues....

Full of Surprises

As of today, there are only 3 more possible weeks left to be pregnant!
A wonderful surprise and music to my ears!!
Met with my Dr today at our usual weekly check up, no checking for progress but did decide something huge. If at 39 weeks there is still no considerable progress she would go ahead and schedule the date for induction on our actual due date of April 12th! This is because I had to be induced with Lily at almost 41 weeks and there's no reason to do that again.
PLUS, I'M OVER PREGNANCY!

On another note, I was surprised with beautiful flowers this morning!
Mike and Lily headed to their last gym class (too much going on to keep it up through the summer months) and then gave them a list for Trader Joes. Mike said he had talked to Lily about getting me flowers and that she got to pick them out. When they went up to the flowers, she pointed and said, "Pink". So here they are, my Pink flowers that was accompanied by a pink balloon :).
Thanks Daddy and Lily!
I Love My Flowers!!

Family Time

Everytime we go to the "nice" Wal-Mart (and the Rita's), we pass this nice park on the way that gets Lily really excited. She points to it, mumbles something, and just always wants us to stop. Since it was the first real nice Saturday we have had, we decided to stop! (plus Rita's was supposed to be giving away free Italian Ices, more to come)

She has mastered the art of the climber, a little hesitant on the "stools" though. Can't say I blame her, it was a far way down. Pretty much just the Check Family there, so Lily had the run of the park. We went down the slide, played on the ramps, did some swinging, and just had a grand 'ol time.

Daddy & Lily doing some weight testing of the swings and Lily just "hanging out".

Afterwards, we ventured over to Rita's only to find it still closed, opening April 6th. Since we had already promised Lily a treat (and frankly Mama & Dada wanted one too), we headed up the road to the homemade ice cream shop. This would be Lily's 1st ever attempt at an ice cream cone. She's had ice cream, just never confined in a cone.

Here's Mama and Lily cooling off in the shade.

... and here's Lily tackling the cone. She started with her cone (chocolate w/ sprinkles in a cake cone) and ended up with Daddy's butterscotch ripple in a sugar cone. Not quite sure how that happened. All in all, she did very well. Minimal mess and some opportunities to pose. All in all, a great Saturday!

Little Monkey

So, how long do you think Mike can do this??
Hmm...I see potential problems in starting this!
Good Luck Daddy :)

Fun

After running some errands this morning we decided to play outside when we got home. Lily was absolutely awesome at the store too! She walked all around Michael's with me and didn't break anything!! :) I feel as though we're onto a new stage with Miss Lily!
We played bubbles and sat with our faces in the sun. Lily also pushed her duck and her stroller with her favorite three friends around the yard.

Lily looked for bugs and ants. She would say "ant, ick", "bug, ick". Too funny!

Then all of a sudden a lady drove by and asked us if we had spotted her 8 mth old kitten that had run away. By chance, the kitty's name is Lily! My Lily got so excited that we had to start looking for the cat. She walked around the yard saying, "Here kitty, kitty" when I remembered we had some treats left from when we gave them to our stray cat that came by so I gave them to Lily to put in the yard. (I actually just wanted her to put them at the end of the driveway). But Lil had different plans. She emptied the half-full bag of treats all over our yard! I'm sure we'll have a critter convention here pretty soon!
No kitty, but we had lots of fun having a girl's morning in the yard.

Green Day

Happy St. Patrick's Day
We celebrated by going to playgroup at one of our favorite park/playgrounds. Lily was wonderful! She listened, didn't run around or far away from me and was very careful on the equipment. Elizabeth brought donuts with green and white sprinkles from Krispy Kreme for all of us. The kids loved them! Lily especially loved to lick off all of the sprinkles and icing and then give me what was left which was a half eaten soggy glazed donut.

Elizabeth, Lorelei, Lily and I went for a walk down to look at the water and to get a little walk in. The girls had a lot of fun exploring and just being able to run and get up on benches by themselves. When we got back to the car we had to take some friend pics. They all turned out so cute had to post them all and yes, they were eating another donut.
