The House

We got this playhouse from Santa a few years ago and we got it out of the shed about a month ago for the girls to have something "new" to play with. And it has not disappointed.

They love this house.
First we had the furniture (stove, changing table and washing machine) inside and they played babies, kitchen, store, house and playdates, etc. That lasted a good few weeks of good playtime. Then I got an idea to make a clubhouse. Parted the house pieces laid a blanket in there and put in tons of pillows and covered it with a blanket, to make it fort-like.

Now they have been calling the house,"Reading Clubhouse", "The Girl Clubhouse" then realized they wanted Daddy to play so they called it "The Girl and Boy Clubhouse". They read, play camping, pretend to go to bed, they cuddle in there ALL the time and take as many blankets they can find to cover them up.

Even Maci has gotten in on the house action. We have found her taking naps in the house and some nights she even goes in there to sleep! Smart dog, it's a lot safer in the house!

Gotchya...

I got the look.

The look that Emma gives us, mostly Mike, all the time. I've seen it a few times when she thinks she's cute but not doing nice things, or when she means, haha, I got the toy from Lily anyway. Usually when she cries for me, "I wan Mama" and I finally pick her up she shoots Mike this look. Gets him to smile and nod his head every time. I think this look means trouble for us.

Jumping

Emma has been trying to jump for months and months and in the past few months has been getting a good bit of air under her. First she was holding on to something then all of a sudden here she is, jumping like a big girl.

While we were trying to get Emma to jump we had a bit of fun with
the sports action mode on our camera. Whew, Lily, your hair! haha.

Daisy

Today we all went to the mall to the Disney Store to help Emma choose her first Big Girl Potty Present! She filled up the 10 sticker sticker chart pretty quickly but we are just now getting around to getting something for her. Lily did this too and we explained that to her. Her response, "Oh, wow. Well I can just help Emma pick out something then". And, she did.

Emma chose her Daisy! Emma loves, loves, loves Daisy! They watch Mickey Mouse on the Disney Channel and even though she knows all the characters Daisy it is. Daisy's Pet Project is a book we have and I'm pretty sure that we read it to her every single night sometimes twice.

While I was taking her picture she requested a picture with Lily and Daisy :)

Coloring

Loves to sit at the kitchen table to color.
She colored "Bts" (Boots, Dora's Monkey friend)

Mother Goose Day!

So, today was the day. The day that Lily has been looking forward to since the beginning of February! Mother Goose Day at school. All month they have been reading nursery rhymes, singing them in music class and doing little crafts whether it be making tarts or candlesticks.

At bedtime, Lily usually chooses her Mother Goose book (which she looooves) so that we can read ALL of the rhymes. Sometimes she wants to read some to me which is great and sometimes we are short on time so she is allowed to pick however many to read. From this, she learned Table of Contents and would choose the rhymes from that list and go to that specific page. :)

All of this brought us to today, where every three year old would dress up like a character from one of their favorite Mother Goose nursery rhymes. They sent home a sheet with ideas like Mary would wear a frilly dress and carry a stuffed sheep or a shepherd's hook, Jack and Jill could carry buckets, etc... So when Lily came home the day they discussed this at school she was so very excited that she got her book and started to go through it. She wanted to be a few things until she came to Old Mother Hubbard and from that moment on, that was her choice.

Old Mother Hubbard she would be.

Her teacher, Mrs. Johnson, and I chat each morning and after I told her that Lily has been really practicing and singing the songs while reading them off of the sheet that was sent home. Sometimes we get a show after dinner that include all the movements and dances too. After I told her teacher this, she was really pleased and said that she was front and center at the show! Yikes.

Mike and I weren't sure whether to prepare her or not. Sometimes too much information can make her nervous and scared and not want to do anything, so we said nothing.

And, thank goodness...
She did GREAT!

She stood front and center, right in front of the music teacher. She sang every song, did the movements, dances and had a great time.

The entire show was absolutely adorable!
I wish they could have one every single month!

If you'd like to check out Lily's Mother Goose Program (20 minutes long)
go HERE where I uploaded it to youtube. Hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

Thursday, February 23

Today, again, we took advantage of the warm weather!
We are offially wanting Spring to come now!

After picking Lily up from school today we headed to the park to have lunch and play for a bit. We even took a walk and found a Mommy and Daddy duck walking around, saw them go into their nest and I had to promise that we could go check on them again after school.

These girls were extemely tired, fresh air does that to them. And, this was the best pic due to being cranky tired and jets flying over one after the other. As you can tell from Emma's face, they are not huge fans of jet noise yet :).

Entertainment

These girls are very entertained by the garbage and recycling trucks every week. Now whenever it sounds like one of those trucks Emma will grab her ears and say "Mama, truck" she will run to the front door and yell, "Mama, open door" and tack on a "Peeassse" until I open the door for her.

Great Wolf Lodge

We arrived at 130 to check in yesterday. Check-in is not until 4 but you can get there at 1 to enjoy the waterpark until your room is ready. Of course, there were so many people leaving yesterday a lot of rooms were not ready until late. We were lucky that our was ready at 430 but it also gave us some time to play in the water and explore!

We had to change in the locker rooms inside the waterpark and Daddy ran everything back out to the car until our room was ready, including the camera. How grown-up does this girl have to look?!?

We played until our room was ready then headed to dinner at their restaurant, buffet style. Kids ate free so not so bad but the girls were megatired and climbed all over the booth we had. Our girls, when they are tired, act crazy. Maybe not really crazy, but crazy for them. Tonight at dinner, Lily was under the table, Emma was climbing across the table, they played with the silverware, salt and pepper shakers, would take a bite of food then spit it out and of course seemed like they wanted to join the family behind us since they would stare at them constantly.

Buuut, the waitress was extremely nice and talked to Lily, which she loved. And, a bribe (yes, bribe) of ice cream and toppings got them to eat a really great dinner. By the time we left, Mike and I polished off probably half of the dessert buffet platters, had 4 to-go drinks in a carrier and the girls had these, compliments of the really nice waitress, Lydia.

Wolf Ears!

Yes, all the way to the room they Rooared like they were wolves.
And, yes they roared at people walking in the hall as well.
And, yes we got looks, smiles and head tilt smiles.
We're biased of course, but they were cute and we were just happy to be out of dinner.

We took a few pictures, realized we had the biggest suite in the place (2br, 2bath, kitchenette, living room with fireplace, 3tvs and 3phones plus a patio) and the girls had baths in the huge jetted tub.

After storytime in front of the fireplace, so much fun. Off to bed we went.

Lily was up at 7 Ready. To. Go.

Emma and I got up a little after 730, we all relaxed, had coffee, breakfast, some tv time with trusty Dinosaur Train and had some fun. We have to unplug the phones in hotels since Lily calls everyone. Here, she's talking to Daddy and Nana. Emma ran to put on her new Crocs first thing and enjoyed her chocolate milk by the fireplace. She kept pointing to it saying hot, no and then pointed to the dial to tell us that mama and dada are the ones who touch that. She also requested that her picture be taken.

We packed up and headed to the waterpark at 945, it opens at 9 and it was packed by the time we got down there. Mike put everything in the car since at 11 your room wristband stops working. (Yeah, no room keys only wristbands!) The girls were sooo excited that we thought as soon as they got into the hallway they'd be off but we got this instead....

walking nicely holding hands with the biggest smiles EVER.

As Mike and I got our table all set up, our "camp" organized this is how our girls waited for us

watching their favorite raft ride that they can't go on due to height restrictions.

And, a few pictures of our fun...

Daddy and Lily in the Wave Pool

From Top: The Baby Pool (max depth of 2 or 3' I think)
By far the warmest pool there and lots of fun. It was crowded but definitely had room to swim with nice buffers. Emma loved just walking around bouncing, climbing up on the sides and jumping down to us. Lily got really comfortable being in the water but really loves her vest.

Next: The water slides located in the Baby Pool. Yes, Lily and Emma both loved these.
Emma only went down the orange slides a few times yesterday afternoon while Lily became quite the pro and was very comfortable since she was wearing her vest. She loved the yellow, bumpy, fast slide and by the end was going down and landing all by hereself. (we were standing at the bottom "catching" her so she wouldn't go under) By the end of today, she went under a couple of times and was so proud of herself and finally realized it's not as scary as she thought.

Bottom Left: Some of the slides we thought we'd be able to take the girls on with us. Yesterday we climbed all the way up to talk to the lifegaurd and nope...we would have to go first and then they would go after us, not cool. So we'll wait on those and girls didn't even realize.

Bottom Right: The huge treehouse, sprinkler house, fun house thing. This thing had water going everywhere. It had buckets you could fill, sprayers you could shoot, rope ladders and nets to climb, a creaky bridge and tunnels made out of rope. And, Lily loved it. She went up a few times with Mike and the last time we went up, she took off. When Mike finally caught up to her she was contiplating climbing down a rope net to get down to the bottom. Yes, the same net that preteens run up and act crazy on! Geez, Lil, maybe next time. Maybe.

This house also had a huuuge bucket on the top that filled in about 10 minutes or so, a bell would ring and then the bucket would tip and DUMP a ton of very cold water on everyone waiting at the bottom. And, what brave little one asked to be there?
Lily.
She caught the edge, got drenched, laughed and giggled that she did it and jumped up and down.

Everytime the bucket tipped Lily would look at us, point at the bucket and say, "I've done that before. I was brave but it wasn't that bad. You should try it." HA.

We had a quick snack and played, played, played some more.

After returning from a quick girl potty trip we found our Baby Pool, with slides, closed due to some poopoo clean-up issues and took it as our cue to head out to go home.

And, since this is the way L and E looked as we traveled the hour home
seems like we had some super duper family time.

We CAN NOT wait to go back!

New Crocs and a Surprise!!!

We have had this little mini-vay-cay planned for a month or so and it finally arrived.
Mike and I are big on planning things and not telling the girls, not for time frame confusions or anything but simply wanting to see their priceless reactions and expressions when they find out what we have planned.

So, we packed up, without many questions from Lily but man the questions she has always seem to stump us and catch us off guard. So much so that we are convinced that she will discover the "loveliness of childhood" a bit sooner than we would like. Our answers of Busch Gardens and shopping satisfied her this time.

We stopped at the outlets in Williamsburg for some shopping after a quick lunch. We thought we'd get to a few more stores than the Crocs store but a massive Emma poo and the plethora of Crocs little jibitz thingys took ALL of our shopping time.

We were then off to show them the surprise.
Great Wolf Lodge!

SO MUCH FUN!!!!

Happy Happy Birthday Daddy!
We Love You!

A Day Like Today...

Needs a little bit of summer.

Wednesday, February 15

Oh, yeah...I forgot...

Emma wants to be done with diapers.

HA.

Yep, Monday morning she began to take off her pants and diaper.
At first, the diaper was wet so she would then run to her room to get a new diaper
and lay down so that I could put it on her.

THEN... I found her taking off a dry diaper and pants because "it hurt".
And, she said, "Mama, pee" we went and she went in the potty.

Hmmm...ok.

Totally not, NOT ready to do this with Miss Emma just yet.
But, don't seem to have a choice.

So, the little potty came into the den, 2T undies went on Emma and a mattress pad went on the couch.
She kept the diaper dry all morning, did not have a problem wearing a diaper for nap and requested the undies when she got up!

Ready or NOT.

We've started a 10 sticker, sticker chart like we did with Lily and she only has two spots left to fill.
Guess we'll be going to the Disney store to get this girl a Daisy doll.

Only problem I notice is that she is scared to go "poo" in the potty.
Something we did not encounter with Lily so it will definitely be interesting on how this goes.

***Sigh***

Happy Love Day

Happy Valentine's Day.

Lily worked very hard on the valentines she made for her friends at school.
Since I am newly but absolutely obsessed with Pinterest, I was intrigued by several cute ideas but went this direction instead...a sparkly, Lily kind.

She made sparkly heart magnets for her friends.
And, she singed Love Lily on each of them several times :).

Our day was full of sickness too so I didn't get a chance to snap a picture of Lily in the skirt I made her...sometime soon though.

End of the day, we had lots of valentines, some candy
AND...
Amoxicillan for Lily's strep throat. Will be taking Em in on Thurs morning and if I were a bettin' woman (which I'm really not) I'd bet that she has strep and an ear infection.

Happy Happy Love Day!

Skype Date

with Nana turned into a dance party with Nana.

Thanks Nana for the dancing and singing ape :)
Most of us are loving the amount of play time it's getting.

Love you and Miss you Nana!

The 2012 List...

So last year, yeah the resolutions or goals didn't work out too well. Do they ever?!?

So, I would really like to list a few things that I think I can get done within the next 11.5 months to cross them off of my list.

1. Make a quilt for Emma (like Lily's). since E loves it so much.
2. Work on 2010 AND 2011 blog books. They are loaded but need to be edited, which is a feat in itself but totally worth it.
3. Dates with Mike. We have one scheduled in March, we are definitely looking forward to it.
4. Try to manage my time better. I was awful at this when I was in school. I was a major, major procrastinator but always got it done in the end. I really want to work on this.
5. Explore need versus want and conquer it. Do wants really make life better?
6. Keep up on the things I have started for the girls, things that they will receive when they are older. Easy to forget about, but treasures in years to come for them and us.

Ok, that's enough. I think I could keep going but I'm not. Want to cross these off first and then move on from there.

Saturday, February 11

Snoooooww!!!

It was short-lived, the flakes were huge and heavy and the girls loved it!

Of course, we had to delay dinner to go out and catch a few on our tongue and give Emma a taste of snow. So much fun, too bad it turned icy and was gone mostly by Sunday morning.

No Words

They were acting crazy like they do sometimes and of course Lily bumped her head and started whining. Not crying but a little whimper. Emma became very, very concerned and this is how they ended up. Lily's head on Emma's lap so that Emma was playing with her hair and rubbing her back to make sure she was ok. This last for a few minutes all the while Emma was saying...
"Aaahhh, Mia...Mia, Aaaahhhh..."

Not having a sister, I am really enjoying watching their relationship and how they interact in every situation. They can have a little spat and then turn around and be completely fine, like it never happened. Mike and I have learned that most of the time we make it worse when we try to help remedy the situation. They usually work it out, maybe a few little slaps or grunts here and there but they do work it out and end most of them with hugs and kisses.

They love each other more than words can say.

Pink and Purple Day

Another color day at school brings some more matching skirts and hair flowers :)

This time I saw Lily's skirt in my head and had to figure out how to do it...
it has a faux front with buttons down the center :)

Yay for girls who loooove to dress alike!

Oh yeah, and as I was looking through the pics I realized...

Holy Legs Lily!
Not looking forward to normal waist + long legs + short shorts=
a very nervous mommy and a wreck of a daddy :)

#32

Wow. Really? Guess so.

We had a nice very looong dinner out at Friday's. Not by choice by random server luck :)
Wanna see....

Gotta love it :) and thanks to my Lily for having it on video!!
Happy Birthday to me.

Lil' Bows

I finally made a Facebook page here instead of keeping up on Etsy.

I am also getting ready for a vendor table at a spring consignment sale and a
vendor sale in late April.

Hoping and crossing my fingers and more importantly praying
that this is the path I'm supposed to be going down.

Monday, February 6

Happy February...Finally.

Finally, a nice day to get outside and get some fresh air.
Plus, we have our Daddy back!

Sidewalk chalk, hide-n-seek, follow the leader and of course our now famous
march-n-clap. If I need the girls to get somewhere, i.e. nap, we march and clap down the hall. It gets them going and they tell me to be the caboose. Now they like to march and clap everywhere :)

Sunday, February 5

Pizza, Football and Dancin'

Nothing like making your own tortilla pizza to make it soooo delicious.
And, it was a great game on top of that.

The best part of the entire game, watching Lily watch Madonna.
Not only was Lily watching every single move she made,
Lily made every single move Madonna made.
She tried very hard to keep up with the choreography and lucky for her
there were mostly only squats and simple hand movements to imitate. :)

Saturday, February 4

Ta-Da...

Emma is becoming quite the little performer.

We're not quite able to decipher everything she says but she certainly knows exactly what she's singing. She tends to run in circles while singing, when she's done she yells "Yeah!" and ends every little show with a head to the floor bow. And, the best thing...her shows are very short so that she can do this about a million times within a ten minute period. It also increases the chances of a very high quality nap in the afternoon.

Foto Friday

Still in her protective mode.

Thursday, February 2

Yay!

Daddy came home a day early!
Daddy was in Green Bay all week to monitor some testing on a major Coast Guard crane,
a huge job in very, very cold weather and we missed him dearly.

This week gave me a reality check big time. I rely on Mike A LOT.
And, I'm really glad that he doesn't have to travel very much.
Not sure I could handle that not to mention the girls handling it.

We survived the week and became even closer if that's possible.
They were wonderful for the most part and of course gave me a run for my money
but we survived. We were able to Skype with Daddy a few times and
talked with him as much as we could.

And, I'm glad to know that there aren't any more business trips on the horizon.

And, to brag a bit about how wonderful Mike is....
He wrote notes to all three of us for every single day he was gone.
He wrote the girls notes, drew them pictures and labeled every single one of them.
The girls and I loved them and are so thankful for Daddy.

Pretty Day

Today, our day together, we spent at the park and coming home to draw with sidewalk chalk.
And, the girls had to march around the front yard pretending they were in a parade. Emma was slightly behind since she insisted on not wearing shoes.

And, after looking at all these pics I noticed that maybe it's time for Miss Lily to
get some new pants... a little short, I think...
whoops. momma bad.
Sorry Lil for not taking those out of your drawer sooner.
